A High Tech University to be established in Sri Lanka, Pakistan

The High Commissioner of Pakistan has announced that soon Pakistan will be inaugurating a high tech university in Sri Lanka with support of COMSATS University Islamabad. He was attending a reception organized for celebration of 79th National Day of Pakistan by High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Shahid Ahmed Hashmat, the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka also announced that Pakistan will grant 1000 scholarships to the Sri Lankan students in various academic fields. He announced that student exchange programs and exchange of faculty members between Pakistani and Sri Lankan educational institutes will also be i in future.

Pakistan and Sri-Lanka share a strong friendly bond with eachother. The High Commissioner expressed his desire to further strengthen this bond of friendship by doing collaborations in academic fields. 
He said, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are friends since 2000 years ago. The reason behind this strong bond is sharing mutual values of peace and harmony with eachother which is taught by religions of Islam and Buddhism both.

Rauff Hakeem, Sri Lankan Minister for City Planning, Water Supply and Higher visited the event hosted by Pakistan’s high commission in Colombo as a chief guest. In his speech, the Sri Lankan Minister appreciated the effort and friendly gesture of Pakistan and Pakistani people and said that Pakistani Government has always stood by Sri Lanka in the time of needs.

The Sri Lankan Minister that the people and government of both countries have been enjoying a strong bond of friendship since years. The relationships between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are supportive and wide ranging in vast fields of interests. Other attendants of the event included Speaker Parliament Karu Jayasuriya, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, and well non members of civil society, diplomats and a large number of corporaters from different status and occupations.

COMSATS University has been in the news for all the right reasons. Even though, COMSATS University was established in 1998. But it has progressed and developed by leaps and bounds. The university has been gaining global acclamation in short period of time and has been getting top rankings for excellence of performance in academic field by QS and TIMES University Rankings. It has emerged into one of the top leading university of Pakistan.

With support of COMSATS University the soon to be established in Sri Lanka,a HIGH Tech University will surely be receiving a top class IT and Engineering courses institution quality. The planning and academic design of the university is under discussions right now. COMSATS has been granted a public sector university status in 2002. Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is basically inter- state organization. It has 25 associates in 25 countries which include: Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea (DPRK), Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Iran and Zimbabwe.
