Be Ready to Fight Dengue Virus Once Again

Be ready to fight the Dengue Virus once again. Dengue fever is a disease that is transferred through mosquito bites. Mosquitoes carry the Dengue virus. If such a mosquito bites someone they will be infected and develop dengue fever. This may cause the infected person in developing a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, also a specific skin rash. In some cases dengue fever turns into the life threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever that causes bleeding, low level of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage or one can go into dengue shock syndrome.



According to News Channel City42, we should all get ready to face dengue virus and all the illnesses that comes with it. As the days get hotter more and more mosquitoes will take life. With the increase in number of mosquitoes, which are the root of dengue diseases, the risk of getting bit and infected increases as well. Young children and/or students will be in danger of getting bit at all times. Cities like Rawalpindi and Karachi have also reported of people developing dengue fever in the recent month of February and current month of March.

What can we do to protect ourselves?

1. Apply mosquito repellents, whichever suits you best.
2. Wear Long Sleeve shirts/uppers and long pants in order to cover your arms and legs.
3. You can use mosquito nets at night, so you can remain safe from mosquitoes while sleeping. 
4. Try to fill or ask someone to fill any place where stagnant (standing) water is gathered. 

As dengue contaminated mosquitoes mostly bite in day time, we should follow these tips at all times in order to protect ourselves from dengue fever. Students and their parents should be on the lookout for mosquitoes, so the students can remain safe from getting infected by dengue fever.

Students, if you observe that there is standing water gathered in a place then try to cover it up or ask someone else to cover it up with dirt. As standing water is where mosquitoes lay their eggs. Mosquitoes are the reason the dengue virus spreads. So we can all try our best to fight against them in these ways. 

In the coming days if you get the symptoms mentioned in the starting of this news article, you should go to a doctor right away. Don’t think that this is a passing fever and put your life at risk. Getting diagnosed at the right time for dengue fever is best for anyone who gets infected.
